Take five Tower Transit, lunch on us
Growing up in a compound, we were lucky to have public transport back and forth our daily routines. Our modes of transportation were not picture-perfect yet but every path on the road ahead is unique and ever so often our journeys stretch the bounds of duty in the most story-telling ways. This week, we talk to Tamilmani, the bus captain who takes pride with his duties at Tower Transit about sustainability and green energy.
EV-ready fleet
Going into EV-readiness we needed to equip for future commutes, for us folk stepping onto a bus means stepping into a space designed for everyone. As of today the current fleet operation stands at 11 electric buses and 17 hybrid buses. Set to increase by 50% of a national bus fleet by 2030, Tower Transit also gives training for engineers to be EV-ready.
Going beyond just routes
Our employees are trained to assist people with disabilities, the elderly and other vulnerable passengers. They are also equipped to bridge the gap between passengers and our services, ensuring everyone feels comfortable, empowered, and welcome on board.
Walking the walk
We believe public transport is the future. Our top priority is fostering a greener, more connected environment. Our achievements include solar panels at the depots that harness sunlight to power operations. To date, we've installed motion-activated, energy-saving LED lights into our operations.
Riding beyond the ranks
At the age of 22, bus interchange supervisor Jasper Lee proves that age is no barrier to success in the demanding field of public transport. He's the youngest to drive a three-door Alexander Dennis Enviro500, impressive nonetheless considering it's his first foray into full time employment.
Champions of competency
As bus captains of competency robust training and incentive programmes provide an in-depth and more immersive experience to champion for caring commutes at your convenience. If you’re facing mobility challenges, the public bus confidence course by Tower Transit is designed to help people with mobility challenges regain their confidence to travel on public buses. To support fellow commuters the public bus inclusivity course is designed to help you help others. As a companion course it is designed to compliment public confidence to travel on public buses.
Clean energy
By taking the bus, and making it your preferred transport mode we can target net-zero emissions by year 2050. We've used technology to enable a safe, reliable and comfortable ride each time. This includes a telematics system that rewards our bus captains for driving smoothly and fuel efficiently.
