What is the biggest challenge people face when it comes to programming?

I was always enchanted by the model of computer programming when it was just blocks of code but to stay up-to-date with trends you need to shape-shift or stay open with the times.

What is one actionable piece of advice you would give to someone just starting out in this area?

Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.

What is one book, podcast, or resource that has had a major impact on your career or thinking?

Permanent Record by Edward Snowden as it is worth a read for administrative gurus. I like listening to any local podcast that's readily available on my dashboard. For resources, I remember purchasing a writing pad during the pandemic on impulse and had to mail it back because it didn't serve any purposes other than signing forms. I would have preferred hardware that I can peck away on and express my thoughts with, like flat keyboards.

If you could go back and give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

I was very much asleep in high school so I don't remember much of it, only compensating for most of my insomniac nights on the computer. But I loved being put on the spot, groggy and dazed. I'd speak up more because that's what my commanders encouraged us to do.

Is there anything else you'd like to add or that you feel is important for our readers to know?

If I get to be bossy online, then I would like to campaign more for fair use and digitization of this article in its completeness. Remember the NoH8 campaign? Something like that but less confusing, more redeeming. I hope to get positive feedback from it.
